Tru-Balance Knife Company Comes Back Home to Michigan

CADILLAC, Michigan – William Bednarick is the new owner of Tru-Balance Knife Company.

Lifelong sportsman and knife thrower, William Bednarick joins Tru-Balance Knives as CEO/COO after acquiring the brand from Branton Knifeworks on February 19, 2022.

“Buying Tru-Balance Knife Company is a dream come true. Back in 1989 I passed up the opportunity to buy the company from founder Harry K. McEvoy. When Branton Knifeworks was ready to sell, I knew it was time to bring the company back to its roots in Michigan.” said Bednarick.

As a collector and user of Tru-Balance Knives, William is committed to upholding the quality and legacy of Tru-Balance Knives that started in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1949.

William has devoted much of his professional career developing the leadership skills needed to guide the company into the future. William is also the co-owner of Foggy Forest Bladeworks.

Avid outdoorsman, James Bednarick joins Tru-Balance Knives as Head of Production.

As a zealous collector and aficionado of Tru-Balance Knives, James is committed to upholding the quality and legacy of Tru Balance Knives started in 1949 by company founder Harry K. McEvoy.

James has established himself as skilled knifemaker as the co-owner of Foggy Forest

Bladeworks and has over 20 years of sales experience in the furniture industry.

James is also a member of The Order of the Arrow, and a proud Michigander.

William and James are dedicated to preserving the craftsmanship of the Tru-Balance brand. Tru-Balance throwing knives will be made in the same manner they have been for the last 72 years and will be made in Michigan where the company originated.
